چکیده

AbstractGlycine Betaine is a quaternary amino compound accumulates in stress conditions mainly abiotic stresses like drought and salinity & synthesized by the two-step oxidation of choline via the intermediate betaine aldehyde, catalyzed by Choline monooxygenase and Betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH). The sequence analysis of key enzyme of Glycine betaine biosynthesis i.e. BADH was carried out using various online based proteomic tools available on Ex-pasy and EBL, and then homologous modeling of this enzyme was performed using automated mode SWISS-MODEL & GENO 3D and models were analyzed on QMEAN, this was an attempt to find the possible model of BADH, because no physical model of BADH is still available on PDB.

An unusual posttranscriptional processing in two betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase loci of cereal crops directed by short, direct repeats in response to stress conditions.

Various abilities to synthesize and accumulate glycine betaine (GB) are crucial for angiosperms to develop salt and drought tolerances. In higher plants, GB is synthesized by a two-step oxidation of choline via an intermediate form of betaine aldehyde, and catalyzed by choline monooxygenase and betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH). In this study, numerous truncated and/or recombinant transcrip...

Isolation and Characterization of the Betaine Aldehyde Dehydrogenase Gene in Ophiopogon japonicus

Betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH) catalyzes the last step in the synthesis of the glycine betaine from choline. The BADH gene from turfgrass Ophiopogon japonicus has not been reported. In this study, we first isolated the full length cDNA of betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase gene (OjBADH) from O. japonicus using Reverse TranscriptasePolymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and Rapid Amplification of...

Molecular cloning of a plant betaine-aldehyde dehydrogenase, an enzyme implicated in adaptation to salinity and drought.

Many plants, as well as other organisms, accumulate betaine (N,N,N-trimethylglycine) as a nontoxic or protective osmolyte under saline or dry conditions. In plants, the last step in betaine synthesis is catalyzed by betaine-aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH, EC 1.2.1.8), a nuclear-encoded chloroplastic enzyme. A cDNA clone for BADH (1812 base pairs) was selected from a lambda gt10 cDNA library deriv...

Functional and expression analyses of two kinds of betaine aldehyde dehydrogenases in a glycinebetaine-hyperaccumulating graminaceous halophyte, Leymus chinensis

Glycinebetaine (GB) is an important compatible solute for salinity tolerance in many plants. In this study, we analyzed the enzymatic activity and the expression level of betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH), an important enzyme that catalyzes the last step in the GB synthesis in Leymus chinensis, a GB-hyperaccumulating graminaceous halophyte, and compared with those of barley, a graminaceous ...

Betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH) belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenases (ALDH) family, an ancestral group of enzymes responsible for aldehyde detoxification in several organisms. The BADH enzyme catalyzes the irreversible oxidation of betaine aldehyde to glycine betaine (GB) an important osmoptrotector and osmoregulator accumulated in response to cellular osmotic stress. The BADH enzymes h...
